Profile of Lydia Dsane-Selby
I have been a member of Zonta Club of Accra II for 13 years. I was a Director on the Club Board (2015 -2017), 2nd Vice President (2019-2021) and the current President (2021-2024). I am the current Chair of the District Service Committee for District 18 (2022-2024). I attended the International Convention in Nice (2016) and Hamburg (2022) and also the District Convention in Abidjan (2017).

The Zonta ideals of women’s empowerment through service & advocacy was what drew me to join Zonta. I have been involved in various service & advocacy projects since joining the club including provision of birthing kits & an anaemia project for pregnant women in Ningo-Prampram; the refurbishment of the Gynaecological ward of the main teaching hospital in Accra with the assistance of the Australian High Commission; health screening for market women and aged women; financing and mentoring the education of a cohort of brilliant but needy girls from primary through to senior high school and many others. The positive outcomes of these projects continue to inspire me to want to do more in the service of Zonta.

Away from Zonta, I am a medical doctor by profession. I have spent the last 15 years working with Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority rising through the ranks to the position of Chief Executive Officer. I know work as an advisor & consultant with development partners to promote Universal Health Coverage whilst focusing more time on my Zonta activities. I have benefitted from being part of a network of professional women in my career and this is the time to give back.
