A fantastic effort by the Zonta Club of Accra 2 on Thursday 1 December at the Osu Night Market(a major market in Accra) raising awareness and empowering women about gender-based violence for 16 days of activism.
We decorated the street and had interactions with them about Zonta, domestic violence and sexual violence (Police unit) and healthy living (Doctor from Ghana Health Service). A health screening tent (hypertension, diabetes, breast cancer) was set up with staff from the Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance. Many of those screened had no idea they had serious illnesses.

We provided branded Zonta aprons for the market women. We had TV interviews with CitiTV, a major media house in Ghana, and of course there was dancing in the streets!

All set for the programme
PAD Norkor Duah talking about Zonta’s mission
Senior Police Commander talking about domestic violence
Doctor talking about healthy living
Health Screening for the patrons
ZID signing the vector
There is always dancing!
